Rewild My Street

An award-winning urban-rewilding campaign, founded by Associate Professor of Sustainable Architecture Sian Moxon. Through the www.rewildmystreet.org website and @rewildmystreet social media, it provides design-led guidance for people wishing to adapt their homes, gardens and streets for wildlife. Inspiring images show how to integrate wildlife features into a typical urban setting. Links to stylish products and step-by-step activities show how to achieve this, while species and habitat information highlight the value of making these changes.

What are the key innovative aspects of the project and the story behind it?

Rewild My Street originated as a winning entry to London National Park City’s international design-ideas competition and has created designs for post-Covid cities through MIT’s Pandemic Response Collab. It is innovative in using design research to share strategic guidance with a public audience. It enables design research, knowledge exchange and live projects through the university’s innovative London Met Lab initiative to work with local partners to tackle key challenges in the capital, including the environment.
